Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California.

Position: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Shift: 12-Hour Day/Evening Shift (11:00 AM Start)
Schedule: Every Other Weekend (EOW), flexible scheduling (no block scheduling)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Contract Length: 91 days (13 weeks)
Float Requirement: First to float (including Pediatric ER)
Cancellation Policy: Up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment (hospital may choose to pay instead of canceling)
Unit Overview
- Adult ER: 28 total spaces (18 beds + 10 moderate-care recliners)
- Pediatric ER: 10 total spaces (5 beds + 5 moderate-care recliners)
- Patient Volume: ~325 total visits per day between Adult and Pediatric ERs
- Pediatric Volume: ~30,000 pediatric visits per year (~50% of patient population)
- Staffing:
- Adult ER: RNs, LVNs (Fast Track), ER Techs/CNAs
- 3 triage nurses to start each day
- Monitor Tech (Phillips monitoring system)
- Midlevels run Fast Track and Quick Look (11a–11p)
- Designated pediatric physician onsite 11a–11p
- Patient Types:
- Adults and pediatrics (both required)
- Minor injuries to critical illness (STEMI, stroke, respiratory failure, fractures, psych holds, burns, asthma, substance abuse, abdominal pain, etc.)
- Adult ER: STEMI, CVA, and Burn Receiving Center
- Peds ER: Pediatric Receiving Center
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Experience: 3 years total RN experience
- ER Experience: Required
- Pediatric ER Experience: Strongly preferred (significant peds ER exposure required to work in Peds ER)
- Travel Experience: No first-time travelers accepted
- Travel Teams/Duos: Not accepted
Certifications Required
- Adult ER:
- Pediatric ER:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- ENPC or CPEN preferred
Additional Requirements
- EKG Testing:
- Basic EKG interpretation test during orientation
- Critical care RNs (ED, ICU, PICU) complete advanced testing (STEMI/Procedural Sedation modules)
- Charting System: Cerner
- License: Active and unrestricted RN license (state-specific)
- BSN: Not required
- Dress Code:
- RN: Navy Blue
- LVN: Cranberry

- ICU (critical care in ER): 1:2
- Adult ER: 1:4
- Pediatric ER: 1:4
- Procedural Sedation: 1:1

This Emergency Room RN position offers a high-acuity, diverse patient mix across adult and pediatric populations in a Level II/III trauma-like environment. The facility is team-oriented, traveler-friendly, and provides exposure to STEMI, CVA, and pediatric critical care. Candidates must be flexible, highly skilled, and comfortable floating between adult and pediatric ER settings.
