Position Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for providing respiratory therapy services as prescribed by provider orders. This includes evaluating, treating, and caring for patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders in accordance with professional standards, hospital policies, and applicable regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver respiratory therapy treatments and services as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient responses to therapy.
- Operate and maintain respiratory equipment, including ventilators and oxygen delivery systems.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to optimize patient care.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, and home care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic and other required systems.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential — CRT not accepted
- Current Ohio RCP License (active and in good standing)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Experience with Epic, Pyxis, and network access systems preferred
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently throughout the workday
- May need to sit or stand for extended periods
- Visual and auditory acuity within normal range (with or without correction)
- Manual dexterity to operate office and clinical equipment
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
- Regular communication via face-to-face, phone, and email
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and chemicals
